Course AI Avatar – Setup & Guidance

Overview

The AI Avatar allows educators to add a personalized, interactive assistant to their course. This assistant serves as a student-facing tutor, guiding learners with explanations, answering doubts, and maintaining a consistent, helpful tone throughout the learning journey.

What is the AI Avatar?

The AI Avatar is an embedded virtual assistant designed to:

  • Support learners with real-time query resolution

  • Provide encouragement, reminders, and learning tips

  • Maintain a friendly, course-specific identity

It reflects the tone, style, and approach you, the instructor, define during setup.

How to Set Up Your AI Avatar

Navigate to the “Course AI Avatar” tab from your course dashboard (e.g., SAT Math Mastery 2025: Advanced Track).

Step-by-Step Configuration

1. Upload an AI Avatar Image

  • Drag and drop a photo or click “Browse from device” to upload.

  • Ideal format: square photo with professional or friendly visual tone.

  • Recommended size: 500x500 px for best quality.

2. Set the AI Avatar Name

Field
Description

AI Avatar Name

The name students will see. This can be formal (e.g., Ms. Jennifer Smith) or casual (e.g., Coach Jen), depending on your teaching style.

Tip: Use a name that builds rapport and sets the tone for how students interact with your avatar.

3. Add an AI Avatar Description

This section defines the role and focus of your AI assistant. Keep it short and descriptive.

Examples:

  • “Helps students solve SAT Math problems with step-by-step guidance.”

  • “Encourages practice, tracks progress, and clears doubts on the go.”

  • “Expert in SAT Math topics including Algebra, Geometry, and Advanced Math.”

4. Write a Welcome Message

This is the first message your avatar sends when a student starts interacting. Use it to:

  • Build trust

  • Invite engagement

  • Explain how students can use the assistant

Example:

“Hey there, future SAT star! Struggling with a tricky math concept? I’m here to help—just type your question, and I’ll walk you through it step-by-step. Let’s crush this together! ”

5. Define the Avatar's Response Tone

Decide how your avatar should interact with students. You can instruct the system to behave like:

Tone Style
Description

Friendly & Encouraging

Motivates and uplifts learners, uses emojis and informal language

Professional & Supportive

Formal, focused on clear explanations and confidence-building

Direct & Efficient

To-the-point guidance with limited small talk

Example Instruction:

“Respond like a cheerful, encouraging math tutor. Always provide simple explanations, relate to real-life examples, and celebrate progress with a warm tone.”
